Hazel Nix (01-04-12)

PENDERGRASS - Hazel L. Funderburk Nix, 76, died on Wednesday, January 4, 2012.

Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Rosa M. Pressley Funderburk. She was retired from Wayne Poultry was a member of the Pond Fork Baptist Church. Mrs. Nix was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Nix; brothers, R.L. Funderburk and J.W. Funderburk; and grandson, Justin Nix.

Survivors include her children, Patricia Parson, Commerce, Donald Nix, Ronald Nix and Debbie Gillespie, all of Pendergrass; brothers, L.C. Funderburk, Jefferson, T.W. Funderburk, Gene Funderburk, Johnny Funderburk, all of Pendergrass, and Larry Funderburk, Jefferson; sisters, Sadie Strange, Covington, Ruby Franklin and Fannie Lance, both of Pendergrass; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 7, at 2 p.m. in the Pond Fork Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Knight officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, from 12 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
