NICHOLSON – Russell “Ray” Griffin Sr., 75, died Sunday, December 25, 2011.
He was the son of the late Luther and Amy Certain Griffin. He was preceded in death by a brother, Carter Griffin.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie G. Griffin, Nicholson; three sons, Russell Ray Griffin Jr. and Shelby Griffin, Athens, Anthony Griffin, Nicholson, and Brian (Jill) Griffin, Jefferson; two daughters, Betsy (Richard) Wiggins, Cummings, and Susan (Mike) Peneguy, Colbert; brother, Quinnion Griffin, Toccoa; and five sisters, Ollie Fowler, Anderson, S.C., Barbara Manley, Toccoa, Joette Roach, Seneca, S.C., Joyce Peeples, Toccoa, and Janice Pulliam, Toccoa; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 28, at 2 p.m. from the New Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Goodroe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Tuesday,
December 27, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
