Betty Lord (12-25-11)

COMMERCE - Betty Shirley Lord, 86, died Sunday, December 25, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospice House.

She was born in Jackson County, the daughter of the late Leo and Lauree Park Shirley. She was of the Baptist denomination and was retired from Jackson Electric Membership Corporation. Mrs. Lord is preceded in death by her husband, Telford Lee Lord; and two sons, Bert and John Shirley Lord.

Survivors include a daughter, Marvalee Townsend, Marietta; son, Robin Lord, Commerce; sisters, Marion Salter, Forrest Park, and Carolyn Merk, Dry Pond; brother, Ben Shirley, Commerce; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, at Maysville Baptist Church with the Rev. David Sharpton officiating. Interment will follow in Cabin Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday night, December 27, from 6 to 8 p.m.
