Nancy Dean Bowman, 80, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, December 18, 2011.
She was born March 29, 1931 in Chula, the daughter of the late Gladys Ellerbee and Albert David Dean. She was raised on a farm close to Tifton, graduated from Tift County High School, attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and the University of Georgia, where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics Education. Mrs. Bowman was preceded in death by her husband, Ben C. Bowman; brother, Albert David Dean Jr.; son, Robert Mark Bowman; and granddaughter, Karen Raines Bowman.
Loving wife and mother of five boys, she is survived by four sons, Dave Bowman, Millford, N.J., Jeff Bowman, Kansas City, Mo., John Bowman, Statham, Edward Bowman, Chicago, Ill.; and ten grandchildren, Ben and Leslie Bowman, Houston, Texas, Kelly Lawler, Westminster, Md., Shannon Bowman, Milford, N.J., Scott, Rebecca and Matthew Bowman, all of Chicago, Ill., and Jacob, Chris and Katy Bowman, all of Greenville, N.C.
She loved cooking, playing bridge, collecting antique furniture and spending time with her family and friends. All who knew her loved her simplicity, warmth, and true southern charm She was much loved and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her.
The viewing is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21 with the Rev. Bob Boehler officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Christian Church in Winder.
The family has asked that memorial donations be made to St. Mary's Hospice House, c/o 1660 Jennings Mill Road, Bogart, GA 30622, or to the Winder First United Methodist Church Chancel Choir, c/o 280 N Broad St., Winder, GA 30680.
