WINDER – Joan Smith Hammond, 74, died Friday, December 16, 2011.
Born in Winder, she was the daughter of the late Willis H. and Luellyn Dunn Smith. She was married in 1955, was a member of Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church and worked at Cherokee Manufacturing for 30 years. She was co-owner and founder of Homeport Farm Store.
Survivors include her husband, John D. Hammond, Winder; daughters and son-in-law, Melissa H. Barnette, and Michelle and David Baggett, all of Winder; grandchildren, Logan Barnette, Cole Baggett and Cassidy Baggett; brothers, Bennie Smith, Winder and Herman Smith, Bogart; and a sister, Cynthia Miller, Winder.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 19, from Smith Memory Chapel with the Revs. Jennifer Horton and John Birchfield officiating. Burial was in the Barrow Memorial Gardens.
