GAINESVILLE - Julia Reed Rogers, 103, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Bell Manor Nursing Home, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Rogers was born April 11, 1908 to the late Benjamin and Dora Reed and was married to the late William Jefferson Rogers, who passed away in 1981. Mrs. Rogers was a longtime member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church where she was a past pianist and organist. She was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include son, Herman Rogers; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and George Spain; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Betty Rogers; daughter, Vivian Epperson; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Judy Rogers, all of Gainesville; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 16, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with the Rev. David Matthews officiating. Interment will follow at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 15, at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Poplar Springs Baptist Church, 3104 Poplar Springs Church Road, Gainesville, GA 30507.
