Margie Simmons

Margie Roseetta Simmons, 78, of Commerce, died Thursday, August 21, 2008, at BJC Hospital in Commerce.

She was the daughter of the late Paul and Martha Patton Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Simmons; and a grandson, Benjamin Samples.

Survivors include sons, Travis Simmons Jr., Danielsville, Thomas and Samuel Ray Simmons, both of Commerce, David Simmons, Homer, and Jimmy Simmons, Columbia, S.C.; daughters, Julia Echols and Carol Parr, both of Danielsville, Shirley Samples, Ila, Rita Seabolt, Angela Elrod and Belinda Simmons, all of Commerce; brothers, the Rev. Harvey Smith, Dawsonville, and Fred Smith, Dublin; 28 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 23, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Rev. Andy Bond officiating. Burial will be in the Grey Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 22, from 6 to 9 p.m.
