COMMERCE – Eula Rea Duffel Smith, 90, died Tuesday afternoon, November 29, 2011, at the Northridge Medical Center in Commerce.
Born on March 7, 1921 in Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Bob and Lera Duffel. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Robert “Bob” Smith whom she loved very much; and daughters, Eula Mae Smith and Linda Smith Miller. She was a retired textile worker and a member of the Madison Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Runt and Jerri Smith, Ruth and Johnny Dills, Peggy and Leon Minish, all of Commerce, and Jo and Stanley Brown, Homer; sister-in-law, Lena Mae Dixon, Jefferson; brothers, Horace Duffel, Beaufort, S.C., George Duffel, Jefferson, and Allen Duffel, Carnesville; and a sister, Maggie McClain, Jefferson.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 2, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with James Waller, Revs. David Harbin and Donald Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Grey Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, December 1, from 6 to 8 p.m.
