HULL - Henry Joseph Rogers, 63, died Thursday, November 24, 2011.
A native of Oglethorpe County, he was the son of Laura Nell Rogers of Colbert and the late Duke I. Rogers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Nation Rogers. Mr. Rogers was a United States Army veteran of Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart. He was a retired vehicle maintenance manager with Georgia Power Company after 43 years of service.
Survivors in addition to his mother include daughters, Jennifer Rogers Crawford, Colbert, and Robin Rogers Miller (Lawrence), Statham; brother, Billy Joel Rogers (Sheri), Colbert; grandchildren, Lauren, Kayla, Elana, Kyle, Kelsey and Anna Beth; a great-grandson, Brantley; mother-in-law, Margie Martin Nation; sister-in-law, Betty Bullock; brothers-in-law, Roy Cecil Nation (Shirley) and Rev. Herman Nation (Patsy); and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 27, at Word of Life Congregational Holiness Church with the Revs. Herman Nation and Carlton Shelton officiating. Interment was in Welcome Avenue Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kyle Crawford, Chris Heider, Raleigh Carey, Ronnie Doolittle, Joe Perry, Casey Garrison and Terry Mabry.
Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Program in memory of Henry Rogers.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, Athens, was in charge of arrangements.
