Carlton Carey, 80, of Royston, died Sunday, August 17, 2008, at the Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens.
He was born in Franklin County on April 1, 1928, the son of the late Cleo and Allene Hickman Carey. He was retired from the textile industry and was Baptist. Mr. Carey was preceded in death by a son, Roger Carey; grandson, Nick Carey; and sister, Elizabeth Scarboro.
Survivors include his wife, Agatha Balsa Carey, Royston; son, Alton Carey, Hartwell; brother, Gerald Carey, Royston; sister, Joyce Ginn, Jersey Community; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 20, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Todd West officiating. Entombment will be in the Franklin Memorial Gardens-South.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
