John Fortson (11-10-11)

DANIELSVILLE – John C. Fortson, 83, of Danielsville, died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at Northridge Nursing Facility, Commerce.

Mr. Fortson was born in Madison County on May 18, 1928. He was the son of the late Paul Lee and Clara Beatenbough Fortson. Mr. Fortson was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation, having worked as a mechanic.

Survivors include his wife, Blanche Porterfield Fortson, Danielsville; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Connie Fortson, Danielsville, David Fortson and Barbie Fortson, Danielsville, and Ricky and Rebecca Fortson, Scottsboro, Ala.; daughters and son-in-law, Deborah and Ronnie Dove, Comer, and Cheryl Roncadori, Watkinsville; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Rebecca Carson, Hertford, N.C., and Barbara Loyd, Athens.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Gilliam, Rev. Ray Jenkins and Mr. Odis Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel M Baptist Church Cemetery, Danielsville.

The body is at the Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday. The family is at their respective homes.
