COMMERCE - John James Seymour, 85, died Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at his residence.
Born in Madison County he was the son of the late Luther David and Cecile Fortson Seymour. He was a member of Jones Chapel Methodist Church. He was the founder of Seymour’s Garage and Wrecker Service and was a United States Army Veteran sharp shooter. Mr. Seymour was preceded in death by his first wife, Dot Barrett Seymour; son, James David Seymour; brother, Odelle Seymour; and great-granddaughter, Ansley Brooke Thornton.
Survivors include his second wife, Joann Drake Seymour, Commerce; children, Marilyn McKie (Rusty), Maysville, Barbara Seymour-Piedilato (John), Iva, S.C., Sandra Sheridan (Dan), Maysville, Sharon Seymour Ward (John), Commerce, and Mitch Seymour (Sonya), Ila; step-children, Deborah McGinnis (David), Summerville, David Hooper (Becky), Toccoa, and Larry Hooper (Regina), Lavonia; sister, Bonnie Berryman, Danielsville; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 11, at the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Steven Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Jackson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
