CARLTON - David Bruce Cooper, born August 16, 1952, died Monday, November 7, 2011.
Bruce, beloved and loving husband, precedes his wife of 36 years, Denise Porterfield Cooper, into life everlasting with our Lord. Bruce and Denise have three sons, Casey Cooper (Lindsay Weaver), Kurt Cooper (Maria Adams), and Kyle Cooper. His sons have always been his pride and joy, and his love for them will continue to flow through them to grandson Cash Cooper and two new grandbabies to be born in the coming months.
Preceded in death by his father, the late Jack Cooper, Bruce also leaves his mother, Emma Jean Cooper, and sister, Dianne Cooper Mauldin, both whom he loved very much. Bruce also leaves mother-in-law, Valerie Porterfield Spinks, and father-in-law, Marion “Bud” Spinks, and many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends who will all miss him greatly. Bruce worked for Clarke County Fire Department for several years after serving in the United States Navy. Currently, he was employed by Athens USPO and spent time helping on the family farm.
He is a member of Carlton Baptist Church and made his profession of faith there as a young man. We miss him and will always love him. Romans 8:28
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 10, at 2 p.m. at Carlton Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwight Duhon officiating. Burial will follow at Carlton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ray King, Terrell Dyes, Tony Lastinger, Chris Boswell, John Carter and Ashby Harris. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 9, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home, 154 Loudermilk Lane, Demorest GA 30535.
