DANIELSVILLE - Elsie Eleanor Buchanan Paul, loving mother and grandmother, passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2011, at the age of 93.
She was a long time resident of Danielsville. Mrs. Paul was born September 20, 1918, the daughter of Steven and Rose Worby Buchanan in Florida. She was the last surviving child of 11 children to Mr. and Mrs. Buchanan. She was of the Episcopal faith and loved the Lord. Mrs. Paul was married to Harry Paul, who preceded her in death 18 years ago. The Pauls were co-owners of Athens Electric Company at 180 Park Avenue in Athens, Georgia, with their daughter and son-in-law, Leon and Sheila Buffington, for over 40 years. Mrs. Paul retired as the secretary/bookkeeper of Athens Electric Company in 1981.
Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Paul Buffington; three granddaughters, Debbie (Robert) Hamby, Patsy Bramlett, and Janet (Andy) Fielding; four great-grandchildren, Missy (Michael) Tolbert, Andy Branyon, Ben Bramlett, and J.S. Fielding, all of Madison County; and three great-great-grandchildren, Will, Clayton, and Matt Tolbert. She had one son-in-law, James Leon Buffington, who preceded her in death.
Bridges Funeral Home in Athens is in charge of the funeral. Visitation will be held Monday, November 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be a graveside service Tuesday, November 8, at 4 p.m., Evergreen Cemetery in Athens, with Pastor Calvin Ward of the Danielsville United Methodist Church officiating.
