GILLSVILLE - Jessyca Garrett Reems, 25, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011 in a Nashville, Tenn. hospital.
The daughter of Tony and Becky Scroggs Garrett, she was a native of Hall County, but had lived in Clay County, N.C. for most of her life. She was a 2008 graduate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill receiving a bachelor’s degree in English. She was a member of the Hayesville, N.C. First United Methodist Church where she had been active and served as a Sunday School teacher. She was an honorary chairperson for Relay for Life in Banks County and was elected first vice-president of the Georgia Angus Auxiliary.
Survivors in addition to her parents, are her husband, William Reems; a brother, Brice Garrett and companion, Miranda Whidden, Young Harris; paternal grandparents, Oscar and Emogene Garrett, Ducktown, Tenn.; three nieces, Kadince and Saylor Garrett, and Kelsey Fleeman; two nephews, Dakota and Gabriel Reems; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a sister-in-law, Marissa Reems.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 5, in the Hayesville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kirk Hatherly and Pete Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Jessyca Garrett Reems to the Minnie Pearl Foundation, 310 25th Ave. North, Suite # 103, Nashville, TN 37203.
