COLBERT - Janie B. Vickery, 79, died Tuesday, November 1, 2011.
Born and raised in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lula Bond. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Kay Vickery; six sisters; and three brothers. Mrs. Vickery was the most loving and caring person and her family was everything to her. She retired from Reliance Electric in 1992. She attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Ila. Her interests included her family, gardening, traveling, fishing, music, Georgia Bulldog Football, and she was Dale Earnhardt’s number one fan.
Survivors include her loving husband and best friend of 58 years, John H. Vickery; two brothers, C.L. Bond and Donald (Helen) Bond; children, Scott (Linda) Vickery, Joan (Barry) Busbin, Ted (Kim) Vickery, and Shelia Daniel; grandchildren, Kim Dean, Wayne (Molly) McCarty, Lance (Blair) McCarty, Chris (Casey) Busbin, Edward Lordman, Sarah (Cory) Loggins, Tara Vickery, Phillip Vickery, Kimsey Phillips, Jessie (Nathan) Bohannon, and Kellie Daniel; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, November 3 in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Duncan officiating. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, at the funeral home. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
