ATHENS - Elender V. Hale, 88, died Wednesday, October 26, 2011.
Born in Walhalla, S.C., she lived in this area since 1947. She was the daughter of the late Albert David and Middie Garrett Vissage and was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Lovic R. Hale, Jr. Mrs. Hale retired from the University of Georgia and was a member of the Prospect United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two children, Teresa (Rick) Griggs, Athens, and Wayne (Tina) Hale, Watkinsville; four grandchildren, Karen Carnes, Stephen (Jennifer) Hale, Allison (John) Lewis and Andrea (Jonathan) Smith; and ten great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Friday, October 28, at 11 a.m. from the Prospect United Methodist Church with Chaplain Maitland LaForce officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family would like to offer their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of Silverleaf Alzheimer’s Care and Compassionate Hospice.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
