ATHENS - Doris Maddox, 81, died Thursday, October 20, 2011.
A native of Jefferson, she was a daughter of the late Clifford T. and Viola Whitlock Nabers. She was a graduate of Athens Business School and retired from Georgia Power after 30 years. Mrs. Maddox was a member of the women of Georgia Power and the Athens Garden Club for many years and was a longtime member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Duel Maddox; son, Jeffrey W. Maddox, Athens; and his children, John T. “Bo” Maddox, 23 years old, and Mamie C. Maddox, 21 years old; daughter, Jan Maddox Kirby and her husband, Chip Kirby, Woodbridge, Va. and their children, Taylor Kirby, 15 years old and Trey Kirby, 10 years old.
Funeral services were held Sunday, October 23, from the chapel of Lord & Stephens, WEST. Interment was in Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Tracy Fowler and the rest of the caring staff of Silverleaf Alzheimer’s Care of Athens.
Memorials may be made to Prince Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund.
