ATHENS - Anna L. (Sue) West, 78, died Friday, October 21, 2011.
A native of Red Boiling Springs, Tenn., she lived in this area for many years. Mrs. West retired from General Time/Westclox after 33 years and was of the Baptist denomination. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Jessie E. West; mother, Eula Shockley Wright; son, Charles H. West; grandson, Brad Collier; sister, Mattie Smouse; brother, Cagar Shockley. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, Memaw and friend.
Survivors include three daughters, Patsy (Ken) Brewer, Colbert, Barbara (Ralph) Collier, Colbert, Marida West, Athens; sister, Joy (Joe) Albright, Perry; two brothers, Paul Shockley, Indianapolis, Ind. and Dan (Paige) Shockley, Kokomo, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Tara Clark, Wesley Stewart, Robbie Collier, Daye Burnett, Ryan West, Jessie West, Tracy Finch, Travis Seagraves; 14 great-grandchildren, Scotty Phillips, Larry Stewart, Hank Brinkley, Charlie West, James West, Maggie Fulford, Zachary Collier, Gretchen Collier, Carissa Collier, Tyler Finch, Corey Finch, Grace Anna Finch, McKinsey Seagraves and Levi Seagraves; two great-great-grandchildren, Amy Fulford and Brad Fulford.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 24, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Lord & Stephens, EAST. Interment will be in Athens Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from noon until service time. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Compassionate Hospice or Food for Kids, c/o Colbert First Baptist Church.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Lucas and the staff of Compassionate Hospice and Mrs. West’s nurse, Rosie.
