Mattie Sears

Mattie Roberta Wideman Sears, 73, of Commerce, died Sunday, May 18, 2008.

She was the daughter of the late Herbert and Selma Wideman and was a homemaker. Mrs. Sears was preceded in death by her husband, Dwayne Sears; a daughter, Kathy Sears; brothers, Ralph Wideman, Jim Frank Wideman; and sisters, Maude Wideman Dallas and Cleo Wideman Brewer.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Ava Sears, Allardt, Tenn., Jerry and Karen Sears, Carnesville, and Phillips Sears, Commerce; daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Brent Jennings, Greenwood, S.C., Eva and Jerry Peek and Tina Sears, all of Commerce, Tammie and Tommy Pinnell, Lula; brothers, Thomas Wideman and Mason Wideman, both of McCormick, S.C.; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 20, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Revs. Danny Oliver and David Carithers officiating. Burial was in the Grove Level Baptist Church cemetery.

Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.
