Rev. Racheo Matt Lacey (10-12-11)

COMMERCE - Racheo Matt Lacey, 83, died on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at his residence.

Rev. Lacey was born May 5, 1928, in Commerce, the son of the late Oddis and Sallie Lacey. Rev. Lacey was preceded in death by brothers, Calvin and Carl Lacey; and a sister, Margie Kinsey.

Rev. Lacey dedicated his life to being a servant of God. During his 55-year ministry, Rev. Lacey served as pastor to several Baptist Churches in north Georgia. He deeply impacted those who knew him and served his community, friends, and family in many ways throughout his blessed lifetime.

There are no words to express how deeply he will be missed. Rev. Lacey was a loving husband to his precious wife of 65 years, Mary Lou Lacey, and was an amazing example to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Lou McGinnis Lacey, Commerce; and children, Mary Jane Arnau (Frank), Commerce; Jimmy Lacey (Brenda), Clarkesville; Dianne Moore (Jack), Gainesville, and Phillip Lacey, Commerce; grandchildren, Elaine Pulliam, Jennifer Hicks, Dr. Misty Caudell, Matt Lacey, Amanda Slagle, all of Gainesville, Tony Lacey, Cornelia, and Brittany Nava, Clarkesville; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Royal Lacey (Gerri), Commerce; sisters-in-law, Malisse Cheek, Oneida Jackson (Randall), and Nadine Seabolt (Jerry), all of Commerce.

Funeral service will be Saturday, October 15 at 2 p.m. from Ridgeway Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Manus and Guy Baker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday night from 5 to 8 p.m.
