COLBERT - H. Winston Berryman died Friday, September 30, 2011.
He was born on October 9, 1928, the sixth child of eight children born to Jasper and Aulena Moon Berryman of Comer, Madison County, Georgia.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his older brothers, J.J, William Timothy (W.T.), Ansley, Clyde, and a younger brother, Joe Mack; sister, Wylene; and brother-in-law, Jim Blankenship; and most recently, in November 2009, the love of his life, Mae Vandiver Berryman.
Winston is a Veteran of the Korean War, serving his country in the United States Air Force Rescue Squad. He was stationed in Ohkido, Japan and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. Winston returned to Marietta where he worked for the Marietta Fire Department while attending the University of Georgia. He and Mae met and were married in October 1954 in Martin. Two years later, Mae and Winston moved to the Hull area to continue Winston‘s studies. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A Accounting degree in June of 1958.
Winston, now with a family to support, soon found employment as a Comptroller for Webb-Crawford Food Distribution Company, Athens, and later at Russell Daniel Irrigation, Athens, retiring in 1992.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Teri Berryman, Hull; brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Nell Berryman, Hartwell; sisters-in-law, Mary Carter Berryman and Jenny Carter Berryman, both of Marietta, and Jeannette Paul Berryman, Comer; four nieces and four nephews and their families.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, October 2, at Lord & Stephens Chapel, Danielsville, with the Rev. Brad Wilson officiating. Pallbearers were Steve Berryman, Clark Berryman, Charles Heard, Jim Patton, Alan Marcengill, Joe Humphrey, Chad Marcengill and Jamie Patton. Burial was in Colbert City Cemetery alongside his beloved wife of 55 years.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Madison, was in charge of arrangements.
