Sadie Lou Sailors Benton died Friday, August 15, 2008, surrounded by her family, at the Fite Living Center in Cartersville, her residence for the past two years.
Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Bernice Sailors. Mrs. Benton was preceded in death by her husband, James Pope Benton; eight brothers; and one sister.
She and her family moved from Atlanta to Cartersville in 1949, where she resided most of her life.
Survivors include children, John and Quida Benton, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Jerry and Linda Benton, Cartersville; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 19, at Owen Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Burch and the Rev. Dee Dee Lawson officiating. Graveside services were held at Woodbine Cemetery in Jefferson.

Owen Funeral Home, Cartersville, was in charge of arrangements.
