HULL - John Hazel Porterfield died September 22, 2011.
She was born July 26, 1917, the daughter of the late J. G. Yarbrough and Nettie Hart Yarbrough, and lived in Hull, Madison County, all of her life. Mrs. Porterfield was preceded in death by her late husband, Paul Porterfield, who died in 1994; and siblings, Pauline Y. Thompson, Wilma Y. Simmons, Alfred Colquitt Yarbrough, Lounette Y. Brown, Joan Y. Melton, and Florence Y. Hix.
Mrs. Porterfield was a faithful member of Hull Baptist Church as long as she was able. She will best be remembered as a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother and the baker of delicious pecan pies, which she graciously shared with the Hull Community.
Survivors include her only son, Larry P. Porterfield (Jean), Hull; granddaughter, Sabrina Porterfield; great-grandchildren, Aaron Turner and Austin Turner; step-grandchildren, Natalie S. Camp (Tom) and Lance Strickland (Jenell); her only living sibling, a sister, Lillian Y. Thomason (Lance), Hull; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 24, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, EAST, with interment in Athens Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Friday, September 23 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
