ROYSTON – Rhonda Gail Garmon Turner, 61, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at the Cobb Memorial Hospital in Royston.
Born in Duluth on December 8, 1949, she was the daughter of the late James and Leona Bernice Hugley Garmon. She was a certified nursing assistant having worked with Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Bowman, member of the Royston-Franklin Springs Lions Club, and member of the Ty Cobb Memorial Hospital Pink Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Richard A. Turner, Royston; sons, Donald Turner, Winston, and Sterling Turner, Flowery Branch; daughters, Veronica Leaptrott, Evans, and Melissa Orr, Gainesville; brother, James Garmon, Braselton; sisters, Iris Simonds, Royston, Debbie Adams, Hoschton, and Lynn Simonton, Danielsville; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 24, at 2 p.m., at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Bowman with the Rev. Chris Pritchett officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
The body is at the Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, September 23. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The family is at the home.
