COMMERCE - Kathleen Sparks McGinnis, 84, died Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at her residence.
She was born in Franklin County, the daughter of the late James Carl and Eunice Clementine Prickett Sparks. She was a faithful and active member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, member of the Gideon’s Auxiliary, and was a homemaker. Mrs. McGinnis was the beloved wife of 60 years to the late Harold H. McGinnis. Mrs. McGinnis was also preceded in death by a son, John Darrell McGinnis; sisters, Sylvia Sewell and Doris Nabors; and brothers, James and Robert Sparks.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Aubry Scoggins and Cindy and Clark Cutler, all of Commerce; daughter-in-law, Betty McGinnis, Dublin; brothers, Donald J. Sparks, Savannah, David R. Sparks, Hampton, and William Lee Sparks, Atlanta; grandchildren, Nick and Chad Scoggins, Sam and Ann Cutler, and Alex and Aaron McGinnis; great-grandchildren, Cade and Cole Scoggins; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 24, at 2 p.m. from the Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Revs. Leigh Sparks Martin and Derry Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m.
