COLBERT – Roberta Whitehead “Berbie” Burroughs, 93, of 5821 Colbert-Danielsville Rd., died Wednesday, September 14, 2011.
A lifelong resident of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Earnest and Susie Vaughn Whitehead. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rosa Lou Whitehead; two brothers, Ralph and Reece Whitehead of Comer; sister-in-law, Willie Mae Threkeld of Paoli; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Burroughs of Atlanta. She was a homemaker and member of Colbert Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, sister, and second mother to her sister’s children.
Survivors include her loving husband of 70 years, Paul Burroughs; a sister, Reba Moon, Colbert; two nieces, Tammy Moon Strickland (Keith), Colbert, and Carol Lowe, Stone Mountain; nephews, Dennis Moon (Brenda), Colbert, Mitch Moon, Danielsville, Ken Whitehead (Linda) and Donald Whitehead (Rita), all of Comer, Lanier Whitehead (Barbara), Bogart, Billy Threkeld, Milledgeville, Joe Threkeld, Tennessee, and David Burroughs, Stone Mountain; as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 16, at 3 p.m. at Colbert Baptist Church with the Rev. Brad Wilson officiating. Internment will be in Colbert Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, September 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Brad Moon, Russ Moon, Ben Strickland, Donald Whitehead, Ken Whitehead, and Lanier Whitehead.
