‘Grandmama Mozelle’ Bird

Mozelle “Grandmama Mozelle” Bird, 90, of Commerce, died Thursday, August 14, 2008, peacefully at her home.

She was born on July 8, 1918, the daughter of the late Melvin and Ella Bradley. She was a member of Ila Baptist Church and had an in-home day care where she kept children for over 60 years. Mrs. Bird was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Bird.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Sandra Bird, Jerry and Claudette Bird, and Jimmy Bird; daughter and son-in-law, Johnnie and Bob Swier; brothers, Tommy Bradley and Robert Bradley; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 16, at Ila Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Vaughn officiating. Burial was in the Ila Cemetery. Pallbearers were children whom she cared for in her home daycare over the years.

Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, was in charge of arrangements.
