Carolyn Townes (9-10-11)

JEFFERSON - Miss Carolyn Allen Townes, 86, died on Saturday, September 10, 2011.

She was born in Aragon, the daughter of the late Carol Allen Townes and Mamie Tinsley Townes. Mrs. Townes was preceded in death by a brother, Jackson Tinsley Townes; and sister, Martha Townes Neel. She was a retired educator, after 31 years, serving 21 years in the Jefferson City School System. Miss Townes was a graduate of North Georgia College and a member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson. Miss Townes was a founding member of the Tumbling Waters Society and the Director for the ARK of Jackson County for 15 years.

Survivors include nine nieces and nephews; 14 great-nieces and nephews; and three great-great-nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 13, at 11 a.m. in the Woodbine Cemetery in Jefferson. The visitation will be held on Tuesday morning from 9 to 10:45 a.m., prior to the service.
