Annie Geneva Duncan Austin, 86, of Athens, formerly of Commerce, died Friday, August 15, 2008, at her residence.
She was born in Madison County, the daughter of the late Columbus A. and Annie Austin. Mrs. Austin was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Dillard W. Austin who died on July 30th; and a son, Roger Lee Austin.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy Shaw, Athens, Ann and David Hutchins, Jackson County, Patsy and Al Smith, Charleston, S.C., and Marie and Gary Lowe, San Diego, Calif.; sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Teresa Austin, Savannah, and Jerry and Grace Austin, Lexington; sisters, Mildred Ginn and Jurlee Fielding, both of Athens; brothers, Edward Duncan, Watkinsville, and C.A. Duncan, Commerce; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 18, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Revs. Dennis Kesler and Terry Hagwood officiating. Burial was in the Grey Hill Cemetery.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.
