ATHENS - Lisa Chandler Benton, 45, died Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at her residence.
She was born November 29, 1965, in Athens, the daughter of Paul and Rachel Chandler. Lisa graduated from Cedar Shoals High School in 1984 and Coastal Carolina Community College in 1986, where she was trained as a Surgical Technologist. Lisa did her internship at the Navy Hospital in Jacksonville, N.C. She also attended the University of Georgia. During her nursing career, Lisa worked at St. Mary’s Hospital and Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens. She also worked as a traveling contract nurse in several different states including Tennessee, California, New Mexico, Florida, Wisconsin, Texas, Arkansas, Maryland, and Georgia.
Lisa loved to sing and play the piano.
Survivors in addition to her parents include her husband, Wyatt Lee Benton; sister and her husband, Audrey and Mark Garner; two beloved nephews; and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 3, at 10 a.m. with the service to follow at 11. Burial will be at Calvary Baptist Cemetery in Athens.
