‘Randy’ Drake (8-24-11)

DANIELSVILLE - George Randall “Randy” Drake, 49, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Athens Regional Medical Center.

Born in Athens, he was the son of W.G. Drake of Carlton and Carolyn Alewine Davis. He was preceded in death by his sister, Becky Drake; grandmother, Beatrice Drake; and nephew, Josh Fancher. He worked in construction and was a member of Friendship. Randy was an amazing father and friend. He had a big heart and would do anything for anyone he could.

Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife, Lynne Fowler Drake; children, Shannon Drake, Atlanta, Brandon (Ashley Fitzpatrick) Drake, Ila, Cortney (Clint) Carey, Comer, Hayley(Cody Carey) Drake, Danielsville; sisters and brothers, Kathy Rylee, Hartwell, Kristi Hayes, Kerry Turner, Danny Parham, Roger Parham; grandson, Peyton Drake; uncle, Melvin Drake; stepmother, Betty Drake; and nephew, Matthew Gregory.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 27, at 11 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with the Revs. Dayton Logan and Joe Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cody Carey, Kerry Turner, Matthew Gregory, Dexter Epps, Dayton Strickland and Tony Scarboro. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 26, at the funeral home.

Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, is in charge of arrangements.
