Billy Griffin Sr. (8-24-11)

ATHENS - Billy Fred Griffin, Sr., 71, former CEO of Fresh Frozen Foods, Jefferson, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at his residence.

Born in Banks County, he was the son of the late Barnell and Eva Redman Griffin. Mr. Griffin was a member of Galilee Christian Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Barney Griffin, and sister, Janie Griffin.

Survivors include two sons, Billy Griffin, Jr., Athens, and Barry Griffin, Centreville, Va.; two daughters, Angela McKinney, Jefferson, and Andrea Cook, Talmo; two brothers, Bobby Griffin, Athens, and Jerry Griffin, Oakwood; three sisters, Joyce Griffin, Maysville, Martha Cotton, Homer, and Wilma Abney, Kennesaw; special friend, Barbara Lavender, Athens; and 13 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, at Grove Level Baptist Church with the Rev. Verlin Reece officiating. Interment will follow in Grove Level Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, August 26, from 3 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an organization of one’s choice.
