Merritt Hill (8-16-11)

WINDER - Merritt Hill, 83, died Tuesday, August 16, 2011.

A native of Bishop, he was the son of the late George and Lollie Maxey Hill. He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Roberts Hill; and sister, Mary Frances Brown. He had resided in Barrow County for the past 60 years. Mr. Hill was a retired sewing machine mechanic with Georgia Sportswear.

Survivors include a son, Stanley Hill; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Dennis Lee, all of Winder; grandchildren, Brian Lee, Atlanta, and Mandy Lee, Augusta; sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Neal Lord, Bishop; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Faye Roberts, Monroe, Virlyn and Louise Roberts, Apopka, Fla., and Shirley Wyatt, Hiram; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 19, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Stroup officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, August 18, from 5 to 8 p.m.
