NICHOLSON – Cecil L. Black, 89, formerly of Acworth, died Saturday, August 13, 2011.
Born in Crisp County, he was a resident of Acworth for 60 years where he loved to garden and share with his neighbors. He served our country during World War II in the United States Navy aboard the USS Stockton. He was retired from Lockheed as a mechanist in 1984 after 30 plus years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Black; a daughter, Cecile Herrin; brother, Marion Black; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 16, at 2 p.m., from the Acworth United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Aiken officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 16, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the church.
