WATKINSVILLE - Lois Evelyn Dooley Stewart died on Saturday, August 13, 2011.╩
She was born in Oconee County, the daughter of the late Foster S. and Annie T. Smith Dooley. She graduated with the 1941 class at Oconee County High School.╩ She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley S. Stewart; a grandson, Christopher Neil Stewart; a sister, Panola; and brothers, Marvin, Paul, Odis and Dewitt Dooley.
She accepted Jesus as her savior in 1947 and was never ashamed or tired of telling about her salvation experience.╩ She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Athens. From 1967 to 2006 she provided childcare for many families in Oconee County including some who were second generation.
Survivors include three sons, James (Vesta), Danielsville, Nelson (Icie), Tiger, and Don (Linda), Nicholson; grandchildren, Tina Newcomer, Eric Stewart, Dee Hodnett, Laura Jenkins, Stevie Stewart and Kenneth Stewart; and eight great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Meldeen Stewart, Lizella.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 16, at 11 a.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, with Eric Stewart conducting the service. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Monday, August 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
