Reba Mathis (8-7-11)

JEFFERSON - Reba Wright Mathis, 84, died Sunday August 7, 2011, following a period of declining health.

Born in Jefferson, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Ila Gee Wright. She was a member of Oconee Baptist Church and was retired from Jefferson Mills. Mrs. Mathis was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Elmo Mathis; and a brother, J.W. Wright.

Survivors include her sister, Lois Edwards, Jefferson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday August 10, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Carlan officiating. Burial will be at Jackson Memorial Park in Commerce with Justin Weeks, Jesse Fowler, Jay Fowler, Todd Samples, Gid Samples and George Mathis honored as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 9, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
