JEFFERSON - James Edward Stephens, 69, died Thursday, August 4, 2011.

Born in Maysville, he was the son of the late Waymon and Lola Jordan Stephens. He served in the United States Army and was retired from Goodyear as a salesman. He was of the Baptist denomination.

Survivors include sisters and brothers-in-law, Eunice Mealor and and the Rev. Jesse Mealor and Montine and Lloyd Akins, Sr., all of Jefferson; two nieces; five nephews; nine great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great-niece.

Funeral services will be held Saturday August 6, at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Revs. Jesse Mealor and Karl Mealor officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery in Maysville. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 6, from 4 p.m. until the hour of the service.

Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.
