FRANKLIN SPRINGS – Hal Thomas Roach, 79, died Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at his residence.
Born in Franklin County on October 9, 1931, he was the son of the late Osier and Sid Murry Roach. He was a shipping clerk having retired from ABB, formerly Westinghouse. He was a member of the Riverside Baptist Church and was a member of the Stephens County Historical Society. Mr. Roach was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the V.F.W.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Rogers Roach, Franklin Springs; son, Michael Thomas Roach, Danielsville; daughter, Marilyn Chastain, Hartwell; stepsons, Randal Bennett, Comer, and Robert Bennett Sr., Lexington; stepdaughter, Robyn Coker, Toccoa; brothers, Haws Roach, Franklin Springs, and Hugh Roach, Royston; sister, Bette Ann Alexander, Royston; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 5, at 11 a.m., at the Riverside Baptist Church with the Revs. Kenny Davison, Roger Elrod and Truitt Brawner officiating. Burial will be in the Cary Memorial Gardens in Royston. The body is at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Thursday, August 4, from 7 to 9 p.m. The family is at home.
