WINDER – Myrtle E. Dunahoo, 93, died Saturday, July 30, 2011.
Born in Barrow County, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Green (Della) Everette. She was a member of the New Pentecost United Methodist Church serving as pianist and organist for many years prior to retirement from that role in 2003. As an accomplished musician, which began from playing in church at a very young age, she continued to use her gifts from God to minister to many people through the years. She was also a lifetime member of the Winder Pilot Club. She lived the last eight years of her life at Great Oaks Assisted Living in Monroe. Mrs. Dunahoo was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Charles W. Dunahoo; two sisters; and five brothers.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Charles Dunahoo (Colleen), Avondale Estates; daughter, Pat Hale (Gerald), Monroe; six grandchildren, Kim (David) Thompson, Covington, Carla (Brad) Crowe and John (Libby) Dunahoo, all of Lawrenceville, Melanie (James) Rust and Kelley (Selena) Hale, all of Monroe, and Mark (Krista) Dunahoo, Lilburn; 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Katie Banks, Winder.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 1, at 3 p.m. at Smith Memory Chapel with Dr. Charles Dunahoo officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
