Roy Allen Sr. (7-25-11)

DANIELSVILLE - Roy Michael Allen Sr., 54, died at Emory University Hospital on Monday, July 25, 2011, following a period of declining health.

Born in Commerce on October 27, 1956, he was the son of Roy Henry and Virginia Glisson Allen. He worked for Bi-Lo for a number of years from where he retired, and was a member of Victory Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Allen; son and daughter-in-law, Michael Jr. and Shannon Allen; stepson, Brandon Porterfield; stepdaughter, Ashley Keanum; sister, Robbie McCarty; brothers, Ricky Allen and Larry Allen; grandson, Rex Allen; and a number of nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. with funeral services to be held Thursday, July 28, from Colbert Baptist Church at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Rick Lewis officiating. Burial will be held at New Haven Baptist Church. Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Allen, Greg McCarty, Terry Roberts, Andy McCarty, Mike Deaton, and Stanley Arnold.

The family ask in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Georgia Transplant Foundation, C/O 6600 Peachtree Dunwoody Rd., 600 Embassy Row, Suite 250, Atlanta, GA 30328.
