Steve Beard (7-24-11)

WINDER - Steve Beard, 57, died Sunday, July 24, 2011.

A native of Gwinnett County, he was preceded in death by his father, Bonnie Beard. He was of the Baptist denomination and a member of Buford Lodge #292, F.&A.M. Mr. Beard was an engineer with the Georgia Department of Corrections. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Survivors include companion, Connie Disney; parents, Joyce and John Greenway; step-son, Kyle Disney; stepbrothers and stepsisters-in-law, Larry and Yvonee Greenway and Johnny and Jo Ann Greenway; step-nephews, Neil, Logan and Benjamin Greenway; step-niece, Brittany Boughtin; uncle and aunts, Fred and Barbara Banks, Lucy Stancel and Opal Beard.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 27, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Carter Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, July 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

Carter Funeral Home of Winder, is in charge of arrangements.
