WINDER – Lester A. Magness, 83, died Thursday, July 21, 2011.
Born in Barrow County, he was the son of the late John and Annie H. Magness. He was retired from the Barrow County Schools (maintenance department), attended the Harmony Grove United Methodist Church in Auburn, and was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Magness, Winder; sons, Ronnie (Beth) Magness, Winder, and Wayne (Elaine) Magness, Lawrenceville; grandchildren, Grant (Rachel) Magness, Garth (Danielle) Magness, Jordan (Leighellen) Magness, Camille Lynn, and Haley (Billy) Livingston; great-grandchildren, Annabelle and Violette Magness, Maher Magness, Hudson Magness; and sisters, Viola Clack, Winder, Ethel Rooks, Harriman, Tenn., Delores Odum, Clarkesville.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 24, at 4 p.m., from Smith Memory Chapel with the Rev. Joe Romigh officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 23, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, is in charge of arrangements.
