Roger Martin (7-20-11)

Roger Randall Martin, 80, of The Oaks at Scenic View, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2011.

Born in Homer on June 19, 1931, he was a son of the late Alonzo P. and Ouver Drake Martin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, James Willard Martin; and sister, Barbara Ann Gardiner.

He lived most of his life in Homer and was of member of Homer Baptist Church. He attended Hall County Training Center and was involved in the Hall County Special Olympics for approximately 20 years. Roger was a very special man who God allowed to touch many lives. With many disabilities, he loved life and was a blessing to all who knew him.

Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services are to be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Homer Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 22.
