JEFFERSON - Roger Goldman Carthern, 64, went to be with his Lord on July 16, 2011, following an extended illness.
He was born in Jackson County, the son of the late Roger Goldman and Mazie Hutchins Carthern. Mr. Carthern was a truck driver and was a member of the Brockton Road Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Tony Randall Carthern.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Carthern, Jefferson; children and their spouses, Andy and Deborah Carthern, and Melissa and Jeremy Fowler, all of Jefferson, Angie and David Garrett, Diamond Hill, Regina Parker, Danielsville; grandchildren, Isabella, Cosmo, Danny, Nicole, Ryan, Taylor, Chase, Ansley, Logan, Cameron and Ciley; sister, Patricia McElhannon, Madison County; and a brother David Carthern, Commerce; and a very special friend, Pammy.
Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, July 20, in the Brockton Road Baptist Church with the Revs. Karl Mealor and Jesse Mealor officiating. The burial was in the Jackson Memorial Park with Darrell Allen, Currie Dalton, Dean Carthern, Chris Motes, Tom King, Dean Love and Wayman Hollis honored as pallbearers.
