GAINESVILLE - Samuel A. Hall, 78, died on Monday, July 11, 2011, following a sudden illness.
He was born in Banner-Roslin, Tenn., the son of the late Merida V. and Minnie Smith Hall. Mr. Hall was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Lee Hall. He served in the United States Army for three years and was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 499. He retired from General Motors as a machine operator. He was a member of Banner Springs Methodist Church of Banner-Roslin, Tenn.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Smith Hall; son and his wife, Rick and Vickie Hall, Flowery Branch; daughters and their husbands, Robin and Tom Elliott, Gainesville, and Tammie and David Freeman, Maysville; and six grandchildren, Zachary Hall, Rebecca Freeman, Jake Elliott, Samantha Freeman, Eric Elliott, and David Freeman.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 14, in the chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with the Revs. Dave Channell and Dan Young officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park South Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
