David Dixson (6-24-11)

VIEQUES, PUERTO RICO - David Wayne Dixson died Friday, June 24, 2011.

He was born April 16, 1970, in Houston, Texas, to Edwin Wayne and Lynda Read Dixson. David moved to Purcellville, Va., where he completed high school, attended college, and after service in the United States Navy, began his career as an Internet researcher for a strategic communications and public relations firm.

Visits to the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico, inspired his move to Paradise where he turned his considerable talents into the restoration of “House in Progress,” and made many friends in his community.
David never met a stranger and never turned his back on the needs of others. His love and compassion for animals led him to serve with the Humane Society in Vieques. Those who knew and loved him will miss him.

Survivors include his father, Wayne Dixson and wife Sandra; mother, Lynda Spriggs and husband Larry; sister, Wendy Keith and husband Marty; sister April James, all of Winder; nieces and nephews, Ashley and Christopher Keith, Joshua, Kaitlyn and Zachary James; and numerous other relatives in Georgia, Texas and Virginia.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 17, at 2 p.m., at the Sanctuary of the Holy Spirit, 71 West Candler Street, Winder.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Vieques Humane Society, P.O. Box 1399, Vieques, PR.
