HOMER - Genell Whitfield Williams, 71, died on Sunday, July 10, 2011.
She was born in Banks County on April 10, 1940, the daughter of the late James Hubert and Ruby Gertrude Caudell Whitfield. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Williams; and daughter, Samantha Williams. She was a member of Charity Baptist Church, was a member of the WMU, and was a Sunday School Teacher for a number of years. Mrs. Williams was a homemaker.
Survivors include her mother-in-law, Gladys Pierce, Martin; daughter, Becky Williams, Homer; sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Angela Williams, Commerce, and Danny and Dawn Williams, Carnesville; a sister, Carolyn Purcell, Mt. Airy; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Billy Poole, Homer; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Yvonne Whitfield, Mt. Airy, Gary and Lynn Whitfield, Homer, and Lamar and Debbie Whitfield, Clarkesville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, at Charity Baptist Church with the Revs. Scott Smith and Billy Burrell officiating. Interment will follow in Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 1:30 p.m., on Tuesday, July 12, until the funeral hour. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., on Monday, July 11, at The family requests that donations be made to the Charity Baptist Church, 1302 Hwy. 51 North, Homer, GA 30547.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, is in charge of arrangements.

Genell, was one was one of the few people I have ever known, that didn't have a flaw. She will be missed by all that knew her. Love to the family,Nancy Hart

There will always be an empty seat in the church and she will truly be missed by all that she touched in her life.
