ATHENS - Eloise Betts, 84, died Thursday, July 7, 2011.
A native of Athens, she was a daughter of the late Willis T. and Lillie Mae Booth Dickerson. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Betts, Sr.; son, George Andrew Betts; two grandchildren, Andrea Betts Lott and Edward Matthew Tate; two sisters, Valeria D. Saye and Pauline D. Wilkes; and brother, Lonnie Dickerson. She was a charter member of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Theresa Strickland Betts, Hull; daughter; Kathryn Betts Tate, Nicholson; sons, Mark D. (Rachel) Betts and David M. Betts, John A. (Becky Clark) Betts, all of Hull, and James B. (Melissa Greene) Betts, Watkinsville; nine grandchildren, Kimberly Betts (Michael) McGraw, Michael Paul Tate, David J. Betts, Timothy P. Betts, Candace R. Betts, Caitlin Ellinwood, Dylan Betts, Casey Betts and Brady Betts.
Funeral services were Sunday, July 10, from the chapel of Lord & Stephens, WEST with the Rev. Jim Stuchell and her nephew, Mr. Lonnie Dickerson, officiating. Interment was in Oconee Hill Cemetery.
