Sarah Marie Thomas (7-5-11)

PENDERGRASS - Sarah Marie Nix Thomas, 78, died on Thursday, July 7, 2011.

Born in Gainesville, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Luna Owens Nix. Mrs. Thomas was retired from USF Gypsum, where she was an office manager, and was a member of the Mt. Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Maurice Rogers and Fred Thomas; daughter, Vicki Clark; and brothers, H.A. and Loy Nix.

Survivors include daughter, Donna Sue Pendley, Atlanta; son, Butch Rogers, Kingston; grandchildren, Faye Hayes, Paul Pendley; brothers, Phillip Nix and Wayne Nix, both of Gainesville; and great-grandchildren, Sydney and Ashley Hayes.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 9, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Graham officiating. The burial will follow in the Mt. Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Saturday from 12 noon until 2 p.m., prior to the service in the funeral home.

Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.
